Nurse Practitioner SIG - The ONS Nurse Practitioner SIG is dedicated to promoting high professional standards and fostering the professional development of oncology nurse practitioners in their role as advanced practice nurses.

Advanced Nursing Research SIG - The Advanced Nursing Research SIG has developed a plan consistent with the mission of the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) and the defined purposes of SIGs. The major strategic goals are:

  • to provide a forum for networking and communication among advanced nurse researchers in oncology;
  • to provide advanced nurse researchers with increased access to professional continuing education;
  • to implement research activities to develop the knowledge base for oncology nursing practice and promote the utilization of new knowledge in oncology nursing practice.

Clinical Nurse Specialist SIG - The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) SIG exists to support the role of the clinical nurse specialist in the advanced practice of oncology nursing. The CNS SIG supports the ONS mission statement and promotes advanced practice by:

  • Developing, promoting and documenting the clinical nurse specialist role;
  • Providing the means to promote the study and exchange of information, experiences and ideas regarding clinical nurse specialist practice;
  • Nurturing the novice and experienced individual in the clinical nurse specialist role;
  • Supporting the ANA/ONS definition of clinical nurse specialist.
